IGNOU Opens January 2026 Admissions with 60 New Courses
SRINAGAR: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has officially launched the January 2026 admission cycle, inviting applications for a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and certificate programmes offered through distance education and online learning modes.
Prospective candidates can submit their applications through IGNOU’s official website or the dedicated online admission portal for enrolment in various certificate, diploma, and postgraduate diploma programmes.
The last date to apply for the January 2026 admission cycle is January 31, 2026, while the re-registration deadline for existing students has been fixed as January 15, 2026.
In a major academic expansion, IGNOU has introduced around 60 new programmes for the January 2026 session. Key highlights include the launch of Four-Year Undergraduate Programmes (FYUP) in subjects such as Commerce, Economics, History, Biochemistry, and Social Work. The university has also rolled out several new postgraduate courses, including MSc Geography, Geo-Informatics, Applied Statistics, and Renewable Energy, further strengthening its multidisciplinary offerings.
AH Rizvi, Regional Director of IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar, has advised aspiring students to submit their applications well before the deadline to avoid last-minute issues. He also issued a strong security advisory, urging applicants to safeguard their login credentials and remain alert to admission-related frauds.
“Applicants are cautioned against responding to fake calls, messages, or links seeking admission fees through QR codes, WhatsApp, or social media platforms,” Dr Rizvi said. He emphasized that IGNOU collects fees exclusively through its official and secure online payment portals, and any other payment requests should be treated as fraudulent.
Applicants have been advised to exercise due caution while filling out the online application forms and ensure that all personal and academic details are entered accurately to prevent discrepancies or issues at later stages of the admission process.
