Winter Vacations in Kashmir Schools Expected Soon
SRINAGAR: The School Education Department has tentatively decided to announce winter vacations in a phased manner from the first week of December for the winter zone of the Kashmir division.
Sources informed that the Education Minister, Sakina Itoo, in a recent review meeting, told officials of the department that the government will likely announce winter vacations for primary-level classes from the first week of December.
The official sources further said that in the case of other classes up to the 12th standard, the vacations are likely to begin from the second week of December.
“The minister has selected the tentative dates, keeping in view the ongoing weather conditions. The date of winter vacations may change depending on the weather situation,” the official said.
It also said that since the new academic session has already begun, the department is trying to cover at least 10 per cent of the syllabi before the commencement of winter vacations.
Pertinently, the temperature in the Kashmir region has plummeted drastically, while the summer capital Srinagar on Wednesday recorded its coldest night of the season at minus 2.1 degrees Celsius. (KNO)
